The Huayhuash circuit – with its splendid glaciated peaks, pristine green valleys and turquoise, trout-filled lakes – is considered to be one of the most beautiful treks in the world. The range is located 115km south of Huaraz and is only 30km long. The small area is dominated by the giant icy summits of Yerupaja (6634m) – Peru’s second highest mountain, Jirishanca (6094m), Trapecio (5644m), Rondoy (5870m), Cuyoc (5550m) and many more. Less frequented than the neighbouring Cordillera Blanca, the Cordillera Huayhuash is a real hidden treasure, offering the visitor the chance to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Peruvian Andes in complete peace and quiet.
The 165km-long trek crosses over many high passes, the highest of which is 5079m. It is important to be well acclimatized, physically fit and in good health.
Possibility of climbing Mount Pumarinri (5465 m).
